A few weekends back while in Austin, Texas my clients and I setup an engagement photo shoot on a day that was suppose be be pouring rain but honestly all that was pouring that day was these bomb a– photos!
I really love how this little engagement-family photo session turned out. A good looking couple with their good looking son in a good looking city only results in some good look portraits! We chose to take the photos at Lady Bird Lake Park because a few months back I had taken Roslyn’s maternity photos there, so it was a special location. These are some of my favorite shots from this session. Enjoy!

A few weekends ago we traveled up to Austin, Texas for two things; music and photography! We attended ACL for a day and the next day (Sunday) we filled the whole day with photo shoots and this one was one of them!
Ashley is actually a returning client. When she was 15 her parents hired me to photograph her quince and now I am going to be photographing her wedding. She recently moved from the RGV to Austin, Texas for work and school, so we decided to take her photos in her new city and I don’t regret it one bit because they came out beautiful! The couple chose special and fun places they enjoy about the city such as Mount Bonnell, Downtown Austin SOCO area, Nada Moo, and Jo’s Coffee for their photo shoot. Here are my favorite shots of Ashley and Juan in Austin, Texas.

Years ago when I was attending the The University of Texas at Austin I conducted a had a photoshoot on top of Mount Bonnell for my client and she turned the camera on me and took these fun portraits.
I would always wear that leather hat that I bought at the City Wide Garage Sale hosted inside the Palmer Event Convention Center and those old roper boots with holes that I have had for years. You would never see me leave home without my Canon 5D (original).
Austin was good to me during my college years and I do miss it sometimes but right now I am building my brand in the Rio Grande Valley, Edinburg to be exact. Maybe one day once I am established here I will franchise in Austin but for now I travel up only when hired or to visit my friends.

Building healthy relationships is a key to success in photography. I met Susana back in 2010 while studying at The University of Texas at Austin. My roommate, Miguel Cobos, introduced me to her after an event they attended. As a photographer I noticed her natural beauty right away. She had it all; freckles, colored eyes. height, dimples and a million dollar smile but what was most appealing was her beautiful personality. Susana was genuinely a very nice girl and that’s why I think we’ve been friends ever since. The pictures above is a peak of genuine friendship that developed over time. Susana claimed that I promised to photograph her one , which I probably did, and that day finally came on May 10, 2014.
Friendships my fellow photographers are what it takes to create good portraiture.
- A friendship builds trust with your subject allowing you to be more creative.
- A friendship allows your subject to feel comfortable which helps the session flow well.
- A friendship allows the client to value your services thus having no hesitation to pay for them.
The trust that Susana had in me allowed for creativity to flow and put her in a state of ease that allowed me to produce some milestone images for her. It’s not everyday someone graduates from a nationally recognized business school like McCombs plus UT-Austin’s Liberal Arts Program. These photos represent a special time in her life. Susana is an extremely smart and driven woman with a bright future ahead of her. I am very proud to call myself her friend. I present to you my favorite images from her portrait session. Hook’em Horns!
