Anyone ever done a 4am photo shoot at South Padre Island? It’s a lot of fun especially if you are professional photographer. The colors are beautiful and capturing an image like that for your client is such a treat! The sky from sunrise and on on a beautiful morning at beach front will always get you great images. Here are some photos I took for my client at South Padre Island.

In 2011 my business was growing fast and we were doing a lot of great work for our clients. I was discovering a lot of new shoot locations and for this bridal we took the risk and used two very accessible and public locations, which is not typical for bridal sessions. These days I am renting very fancy locations for my brides but I am glad to show my beginnings. Michelle, the bride, was a trooper. She trusted our vision!
Her photos were shot in two different locations by myself and my assistant at the time, Ms. Lori Alaniz. Archer park was the more “formal” location then we traveled to a abandoned shack on 10th street in McAllen for the “informal” location. I love the contrast between the two looks and I think it’s always important to try different things for your clients. Here are my favorite shots from this 2011 bridal photo shoot.

Family is extremely important and the Hernandez family know that! I took the beautiful family photos of Sabrina and her family back in the day, when the McAllen Convention Center wasn’t such a hot spot for photo shoots. Since this family session this family has come to me for various milestones in their lives such as graduation photos, cotillion presentations to various event’s hosted by the Edinburg Boys & Girls Club, which Mrs. Sabrina was the officer for. For those who don’t know, the Edinburg Boys & Girls Club was one of my very firs jobs and I am very thankful for the opportunity to have served as part of this great organization and it’s all thanks to Mrs. Sabrina Hernandez-Walker. This family has always been part of the Ben Briones Studios family and I am always happy to show off their photos on my website.

For those who have been a career photographer for three years or more can probably relate. When on a gig or assignment you literally eat on your drive to the next gig, while editing photos at a coffee shop or in your office and sometimes your clients feed you too. If you are like me, I charge all my meals to my business account because for the most part I am always eating while working and for that I am thankful. Through photography I have been able to feed myself, my family and loved ones because I have followed my passion through and through, as if it was my next meal.
Photography has been my passion since 2007 and we have just entered into 2019 and I am still going strong. I am more than sure I have done something photography related on the daily since 2007. When I graduated high school I went straight to the University of Texas Pan-American where I quickly got involved with the college newspaper and magazine as a photographer. When I transferred to the University of Texas at Austin it was to be admitted into their photojournalism program. When I was absent at parties and school events it was because I was either working on my photography business or shooting something for the college yearbook. Today I work at South Texas College from 8am to 5pm as their PR & Marketing Photographer and when I leave at 5pm I go straight to my home office to work on my photography business from 5pm – 2am in the morning. I live photography daily because it is my passion. It’s all I know and it’s all I love to do.
When you become a business owner, especially a photography business owner, sometimes it’s hard to catch your breath because you are constantly working and bettering yourself. It’s important to sit back and take a breath of fresh air….SIKE! It’s actually really hard. To those photographers who find time to travel and put down the camera and remove yourself from the editing computer, kudos to you, I envy you. To those who are workaholics like me and have a camera within arms reach, hell yeah, let’s get this cheddar. (Sara, “But you’re lactose in tolerant.) Fuck it, I will still get the cheddar. If you love photography, breath it daily. If you find yourself gasping for air because you’re not working, start working and work hard.

Love this beautiful simple wedding I shot at the Riverside Club in Mission, Texas. The bride was filipino and the groom hispanic so the fusion of both cultures was beautiful. The venue was perfect for the theme, y’all need to check out this beautiful location if you are ever in Granjeno, Texas. Here are some of my favorite shots from this wedding!

Beautiful. Bold. Intelligent. Studious. Adventurous. Strong. These are all nouns to describe Ms. Susan Sanchez, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. I met Susy while attending UT through a mutual friend. She and I became friends and kept in touch and when it was time to celebrate the achievement of completing not only one but two undergrad degrees she contacted me to document this special moment.
It’s been a a few years since this photo shoot and Susy is now saving lives and keeping the people of Austin, Texas safe. I wish you the best friend. I am very proud of you! \m/

Three years ago I reunited with one of my great friends from middle school and high school, Ms Becca Rios! Becca holds the legacy of being our generations skater girl. That’s actually how we met at B.L. Middle School. She was the new kid, who by the looks of it was into skateboarding, and I at the moment was super into it as well. Naturally all the skater kids welcomed her into our group and that’s history.
Now Ms. Rios is a high trained and sought after hair stylist. One day we linked up on Facebook and she asked we talked about my photography career. Somewhat that conversation got to how she’s was marketing her brand, which eventually let to taking some simple but fun head shots for her business cards.
It’s about three years later and I am barely posting these photos! Enjoy.

This lovely couple is #goals! Gio and Monica make such a great team together! Each have their passions but both are unified with each other in love! I took these images a while back at the famous Memory Lane Photo Spot in Mission, Texas.
We first started the shoot with the couple in their formal wear. The couple wore strong bold colors that reflected their bold love and passions. Then after a while it got real! Gio changed into his Jiu-Jitsu Gi and and Monica changed into a cute dress and her roller skates. Gio teaches at Modern Jiu-jitsu in McAllen, Texas and Monica is part of a roller derby team called the RGV Bandidas.
I really enjoyed this photo shoot with this couple. There was never a dull moment! See for yourself! Enjoy!

Celina and Mario are such sweat hearts! One of the best couples to work with. They were very trusting in my creative direction and very patient with my ever crazy unorganized business but nonetheless we got work done.
As I was looking over these images to edit them I noticed one thing that stuck out. During this couples first dance, both Celina and Mario never took their eyes off each other. It was such a special moment.
This beautiful wedding took place at Palm Valley Church in Mission, Texas where they had a beautiful ceremony will filled with family and friends. Next, we took over Memory Lane Photo Spot for the formal portraits. And finally they ended the night in elegant celebration at Cimarron Country Club in Sharyland, Texas.
Enjoy this story captured for our special couple.
