A few weekends ago we photographed the Grand Opening of Modern jiu-jitsu, an elite jiu-jitsu training gym located in the heart of McAllen, Texas. We have worked with them before covering a special event they had at their first location so it was an honor to get to document another milestone for them.
One of our past clients and my friend Gio, is an instructor at the gym. He’s actually the one that helped us get the gigs. Special thanks to him! Check out some of the photos from this successful grand opening for the best jiu-jitsu gym in the Rio Grande Valley.

A while back my good friend Luis Trevino, owner of Create the Bridge, a local and national marketing agency, asked me to aid him with a project. He was working on a campaign for a local Rio Grande Valley business that “pimps out” Mercedes Benz Sprinters. The customization on these vehicles are beautiful. From detailing to window tinting and all the way to installing the latest Xbox system in van. A truly work of art for those who can afford such a nice luxury.
My favorite part of this unique photo shoot with this beautiful Mercedes Benz Sprinter was to get it in action. We took it out to Granjeno, Texas on a very disclosed road where the driver could take the Sprinter back and forth. My objective was to get the Sprinter zooming past the camera or heading toward my perspective. To say the least it was very fun. Enjoy!

Spontaneous Late Night Portrait
On Monday night our church called a general assembly and that day a fellow church brother, Ruben Lowing, needed a ride to and from church. Mr. Ruben is a character. He has so many interesting stories. This man has was a United States Navy Seal, a Navy Boxer, a realtor in California, a finance advisor, and know the owner of a successful LED lighting business known as Valley LED Solutions.
Well that Monday night on our ride back home from the church meeting he asked If I was interested in seeing some of this LED products at a local freight company in Pharr, Texas. I agreed to check them out and when we arrived Ruben got off the car and started taking photos with his cell phone. I sat in the car watching him happily take photos of his product and some of himself. As I watched this unfold sitting in my car I began thinking, “You’re a photographer with professional camera gear in your car. Why don’t you help him out?”
Ruben came back into the car and I asked him, “Would you like for me to take a portrait of you with my camera?” He responded, “I forgot who I was in the car with.” We both stepped out of the car and I grabbed my Canon 6D and an 85mm and went to work. Breaking that barrier of laziness was the result of this nice simple late night spontaneous portrait of Mr. Ruben Lowing proud owner of Valley LED Solutions.
Ruben is the owner of Valley LED Solutions, which services residential and commercial LED lighting around the Rio Grande Valley.

Back in July I was contracted to take some images of the new upgraded suites at Victoria Palms Inn & Suites in Donna, Texas. You know, the one with all the big palm trees off the highway you always see on your way to the Mercedes Outlet Mall.
I’ve done some hotel photography before for a client who owns and manages the Best Western Plus Inn & Suites in Edinburg, Texas of Canton Rd but it had been a while. I prepared for this job by researching and watching videos. Most of the photographers online who do hotel and resort photography had a simple setup and mostly used HDR to produce the images the client wanted. So I followed suit and took my simple setup and produced some straight-forward shots of the newly upgraded rooms at Victoria Palms.
The best part about this job was getting to hangout with one of my most dearest friends Amanda Grace Monroy , who also happens to be the coordinator for special events or something fancy like that for the resort. We rode around in a golf club catching up on life. There’s nothing better than taking photos with good friends.
In the past three years I have attended some events at Victoria Palms and its a beautiful location. Here are my renditions of the beautiful Inn.

Images photographed for Create The Bridge
One of my good friends, Luis Trevino, who is Co-Founder & CMO at Create The Bridge contracted to photograph these amazing drinks created by a unique seafood restaurant in Roma, Texas. I don’t know about you but I love seafood and Barquito Oyster Bar is the seafood restaurant of Roma, Texas. On top of their great food they have these one-of-a-kind mixed drinks.
I will be honest…I had never photographed drinks before. I have photographed food and still life but never prepared drinks. Well with some old school photography knowledge, a little bit of confidence and snoot I got the job done.
If you ever happen to be in Roma, Texas and feeling the craving for some seafood and good drinks you have to visit Barquito Oyster Bar located 2042 E Grant St, Roma, TX 78584. Checkout what the online community is saying about this awesome seafood place.

J’aime Les Livres (I Love Books) is a cool little book store located at 1219 N. Main Street McAllen, Texas 78501. Martha “Marty” Medina has owned and operated this quaint book store for over four-years. One day a friend and I decided to explore the small shops on N. Main and when we walked into J’aime Les Livres (I love Books) we struck a cool conversation with the owner. She gave us the history on the book store and then told us about this special event that she was hosting titled Single In The City. The event sounded cool; she was going to have food, drinks and fun secure social environment to meet new people. When she went deeper into why she was hosting such an event is where it stuck some heart strings. I personally love volunteering my services for great causes and she told us it was a PINK cause by faith; I volunteered my photo booth to this event. I want to be part of the local community of business owners so I knew volunteering the booth for this event and this cause would get me closer to that goal. I even took it one step further… I created this video for Marty and the event she is hosting.
So all you singles out there, come out and enjoy a nice night at a cute book store and meet new people and make a donation to good cause!
