Photography and law one time collided in thought. A year or two ago I had the crazy idea of dropping photography to purse a law degree. Obviously, the photography career won but I still dream about becoming a lawyer one day and although it’s a far-off thought I still get to mix the both.
Today we photograph lawyers and I am okay with that. My relationship with the law community has been through the The Hidalgo County Bar Association, which I have had the pleasure of capturing their annual event.
This month we photographed O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath, a law firm located at 220 S. Jackson Rd. in Edinburg. I really love how the photos came out for these professionals. We had a simple two light setup with a dark gray portable backdrop. We used a warm tone gel to change the background color as per the clients request. Everyone was super positive and professional and it really reflects in their portraits.

If you haven’t heard of Jeannette Garcia you truly need to! She is a beautiful singer and musician out of Edinburg, Texas. Today she shared that one of her favorite artist Russ liked and retweeted her acoustic cover of his song Ride Slow.
Jeanette stopped by my photo studio in Edinburg to take some fun promo-like musician portraits and I am extremely happy on how the portraits came out. We used a warm tone for the background because her image is a bit more edgy and rock-star that I wanted her to be the main subject. I had her pose with her guitar in different ways to show the love between the two.
I am super excited to share these beautiful portraits of Jeannette Garcia and even more excited to share the video that was retweeted by Russ listed below the images. My photo studio is located in heart of Edinburg, Texas at the Grindstone Coworking at 506 W. University Drive Edinburg, TX 78539.

Nat and I have been friends since 2003 when we both attended Edinburg North High School. Since I’ve known her I knew she could sing but it was until recently when I rediscovered her talent because she began posting and sharing her music on Facebook.
Nat’s music is inspired by her faith and has a variety of sounds to it. It can fall into the modern Christian music genre for sure. I applaud her because she’s actually marking music and putting out there and that’s truly how you get started as an artist.
Nat reached out to me so we could take some photos for a possible album she was going to make or just so people could put a face to the wonderful music she was producing and sharing. She requested to be photographed on some railroad tracks that she would walk through as teen. She told us they meant a lot to her. So we did just that!
Friend when you’re a famous Christian artist don’t forget about me! Wishing you the best of luck in your music career!

I have photographed Ale and her family since she graduated from high school a few years back. They are very special to my heart! Looking at these photos you will only see two people but there are three! This family lost their precious mother a few years back and even though she’s not pictured, she is present in the love these two have for each other!
Today we focused the special bond Ale has with her amazing father. We shot in some of their favorite spots around their home and reenacted some poses from our previous family photo session. Ale is also seen in her U.S. Air Force because she wanted to take some photos with her dad before she leaves for her next assignment.
Ale I wanted to let you know that I am very proud of you. I love you my friend and wish you the best. Thank you for always having us around for your families biggest milestones.

With graduation around the corner for many colleges, universities and soon high schools, I can’t help to remember the excitement of moving on to the next milestone of my life. In my career as a photographer I have photographed many unique graduation portrait sessions in the Rio Grande Valley. I too once walked in my regalia and received two diplomas in my life time and I hope to obtain more.
This beautiful girl you see in the photos is a good friend of mine from high school. Seven years ago Ms. Sam Valdez was ready to tackle life and today she’s a successful and happy individual. These photos forever will be a record of that initial start to life as an adult.
If I recall correctly we did photographer her in her cap and gown but I am choosing to show these shots because just as much as the session is to highlight graduation it is also to highlight your character and were you will be taking that character. In this case Sam took her character to Texas Tech University the home of the Red Raiders! If you are graduating soon I would advice to take some fun unique grad photos for your memories. Thank you Sam for contracting me to capture this milestone in you life.

I am super excited to photograph and feature my first University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Graduate on my blog! Congratulations Ms. Karen Perez on your achievement!
Every time I photograph someone on this university campus it takes me back to my days as a student their. I use to walk around with my camera around my neck photographing nature and people and now I have the privilege to capture momentous milestones in graduates who too have walked the same campus as I.
The University of Texas Pan American, as it was once known, molded me as a photographer and really help me plunge into the world of photojournalism with the opportunity the Pan American Newspaper granted me. And even though it is now UTRGV, I know the leadership, professors and staff still hold quality education as its top priority.
Ms. Karen Perez, once again best wishes and thank you for trusting my brand to capture this milestone in your life.
Special thanks to Sara Yanez.

Joe and Theresa’s engagement party was such an adventure.
I took on this event on a Sunday. I first met with Theresa and her mom at Moonbeans in McAllen one afternoon to discuss my services and after just sitting their with them for a while I knew they were the type of people God purposely places in my path to serve. Theresa and her mom are true servants of Jesus and I know that Joe to has dedicated his servitude to the kingdom of God.
In the 7-years I have been a photographer I have photographed 3 traditional indian engagement celebrations but this once was my first Catholic ceremony. It gets better. At our meeting Theresa’s mom wanted to include traditional Mexican cultura into her daughter’s event, so she asked for mentioned that they were looking for a certain type of entertainment for their guest who were visiting the Rio Grande Valley for the first time. Low and behold, they integrated folklorico dancers into the already eventful night of dance performances.
I loved everything about this day. You could really tell how in love Joe and Theresa are. And that’s only because I just met Joe that day of the event since he is from Chicago. I knew we were bros as soon as he shared his love for Taco Palenque A.K.A. Taco P.
The day begin with both my shooting partner Laura Soria and I capturing some precious moments during the couples preparation. From there we then traveled over to Theresa’s home church, Syro Malabar Catholic Church in Edinburg, Texas. They had a beautiful choir and a gorgeous ceremony. Then we made our way over to the Edinburg City Hall to take the couples formal portraits. Lastly we then finished the day at Mayrin Banquet Hall, where the couple celebrated with family and friends.
Enough talk. I will let our images take over the conversation.

Once more I had the pleasure of photographing this very special person in my life; Diana Ibanez or A.K.A. Mrs. B to many of her past students from Edinburg North High School. My first photo session with Diana was for Christmas family photos with her boy. In this photo session Diana celebrates her second masters degree from the late University of Texas – Pan American. The success this woman has achieved is inspiring and I am always extremely thankful for how much she believed in me and continue to do so!
I present to you my photography sensei, Diana Ybanez!

Today’s wedding was beautiful. Alvaro and Marlen are such loving people and a lot of fun! I was super happy to see their little family unite. The wedding took place at St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen, TX. Then we headed over the McAllen Convention Center, which was super mega packed but you know how we do. I did my best to made it work for my clients. Later we headed out to Penita, Texas to their ballroom, I & J Social Events. It was a very beautiful wedding venue. The owner told me it has been there for five years. Alvaro and Marlen had a blast at their wedding. I don’t know if any of you get that feeling of wanting to get married when you see newly weds having fun on the dance floor their wedding night? Well I felt that way. It’s a special feeling that comes when there is real love in the air. You can tell how much Alvaro loves Marlen and vice versa! Such an awesome couple. #CoupleGoals Special thanks to Stephanie Rios for assisting me at today’s wedding even with a baby on board! Photo Credit: Stephanie Rios, Ben Briones

Excellent photographer. Very professional yet down-to- earth 🙂 Came very highly recommended and will definitely look forward to booking future photoshoots in the future.
Never have I photographed such a small lively diverse wedding! This wedding was ideal and super fun. Dave and Deanna’s wedding was held at The Social Club, which is one of my all time favorite wedding venues in the Rio Grande Valley.
I am super excited to finally share these photos. Dave was such a stand-up gentlemen and you could definitely tell how much in love he was with Deanna. And the bride was so beautiful on her wedding and extremely happy surrounded by all her family and friends.
The bride told me the only reason her and Dave decided to to travel 4,350 miles to Texas from Alaska was so Deanna’s grandmother can attend her wedding since she lives in McAllen, Texas. Very noble and awesome of the two. Today I am excited to share this beautiful couple’s Texas wedding!

So much love for this gorgeous bride! Cynthia Cameron (now Flores) thank you so much becoming my friend, being a Sister-in-Christ, and just overall trusting me to capture some of the most beautiful milestones in your life. I always tell all my clients that you have to love your photographer and us a photographers have to love our clients and I think the relationship and friendship we have built is simply based off that true love Christ has shown us.
Today is a special day for you and Baltazar and I cannot wait to how happy you two will be once the night is over. God bless you and all your family. Cynthia, my Sister-in-Christ, I love you and Baltazar and always know that I am here for you two whenever!
Enough emotional blah blahs! I wanted to share some of all time favorite shots form Cynthia’s beautiful bridal photo session at the Skipper Ranch in Encino, Texas. The first time I photographed at the Skipper Ranch was last fall as a second shooter for Photos by Adriana. It was such a beautiful country wedding and it just brought the Skipper Ranch to life as a go-to premiere outdoor wedding venue. To see some images from that wedding please click on this link: Michael & Tome Fairas Wedding by Photos by Adriana.
When my beautiful bride was looking for a country style venue for her bridals the Skipper Ranch was the very first location that came to mind. I quickly called Mr. Farias to book our session and we made it happen. Ever since that wedding I knew this location would be one of my top places to visit with my clients for my sessions. The Skipper ranch had so much variety to use and I know it made Cynthia very happy. We had the opportunity to shoot indoor and outdoor for a very reasonable rate. I would highly suggest the Skipper Ranch for any type of photo session and outdoor special event.

In 2011 I took some family photos of the Avila’s. Ale, my good friend and Marisela’s daughter contracted me to document some beautiful moments of the family at their home. Ale was leaving to serve our country in the United States Air Force and was longing to get some images with her parents. That day, I met some of the most loving people. Marisela, is one of those people. This blog is especially for her.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Marisela’s 50th celebration. The party was held outside of her home. As you drove into the residence you could see mesquite trees decorated with colorful paper lanterns, floating birthday balloons tied to vases full fresh flowers, and a BBQ pit in full action. As the guests trickled into the party each person greeted Marisela with the most love and affection. My partner Adriana Euresti and I felt very welcomed and at home to be greeted in the same manner. The birthday girl was the life of the party as she played catch with her nephews, danced around, and celebrated like no tomorrow. One would have never guessed her age with such energy and youth!
I love being part of small home parties like this because you get embedded into the family. Because the environment was so inviting, the images reflect just that! These moments are just a small glimpse of what was a festive family birthday gathering.
